Its my flavor that this view of the American dream is non only unrealistic, still also materialistic and not the true meaning of success. My translation of success, which has been shaped by Malcolm Gladwell as well as Dr. Seuss, does not see the accumulation of wealth as ones main culture in life. In my definition, the main goal of life is to find happiness. Ones goals should not be focused on achieving power, wealth or popularity, but rather on discovering happiness.
Success just one aspect is that of happiness and without friends , family and love financial success is useless. I think that the reason Fitzgerald wrote this book, was to reshape how Americans view to success, and to curb them outside(a) from the traditional, materialistic ideology of the American dream. In Fitzgeralds book the ample Gatsby, he uses Jay Gatsby is an example of the flaws in pursuing wealth, status and power as ones main goals in life which was commonly envied during this m period. In this story, Jay Gatsby is a self-made man whose shallow weakness for wealth, status and power as well as the fixing over something unrealistic ends up killing him.
