The Disposition of Petitions for Protection in Adult Abuse Case

The conclusion drawn from the findings of the query performed for this study is that the disposition of petitions for trade security in adult shout out cases in St. Louis County is deteriorating. Two issues were investigated in this study. The first issue investigated in this study concerns the ability of adults claiming to spend a penny been abused in St. Louis County, Missouri to obtain ex parte orders of protection from their purported abusers. Operationally, this issue is defined within the following parameters:

1. The independent uncertain is defined as the number of adult abuse protection order requests devoted of by an appropriate hook in St. Louis County, Missouri in a calendar year. Petitions for protection orders disposed of in a given year may accept both petitions for protection orders filed in that year and petitions carried forward from previous years. When a subpoena cannot be served on a respondent in a protection order case because the status of the respondent is not known, the petition for protection may be carried forward (National Institute of Justice, 1990).

2. The dependent variable is defined as the number of ex parte protection orders granted in result to adult abuse protection order requests filed with an appropriate court in St. Louis County, Missouri in a calendar year.

The data presented in Table 3 are envisioned graphically in graph 2. Chart 2 may be nominate in the attachment to this study. As the data presented in Table 3 and portrayed in Chart 2 indicate, the proportion of petitions for full protection orders that have been dismissed for reasons of non subpoena of respondent when respondent locating is known or the failure of the petitioner to appear in court has been trending upward. This upward trend has been quite dramatic all over the past two years. The data presented in Table 3 are converted to percentages of total petitions for ex parte protection orders and presented in Table 4. Table 4 may be found in the Appendix to this study.
