Verbal and Nonverbal Communication
The five principles of verbal colloquy are the first principle is to; first recognize that all actors lines have value (Cheesebro, OConner, & Rios, 2010, p.84). Not one language is better than another is in its complexity, logic, or ability to convey thoughts or feelings. Dialects in the United States are the different accents that are heard when lecture to others. Dialects or accents are regional variations of language with unique pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. A third principle is to; understand that words do not mean the same thing to all quite a little (Cheesebro, OConner, & Rios, 2010, p.85). Words and phrases can mean different things to different pile from other cultures. A fourth principle is to; recognize variations in how spoken language is used across cultures (Cheesebro, OConner, & Rios, 2010, p85). In the United States, for example, people value the spoken word and venial speak is normal, but in other cultures, they believe language can never reveal the truth, so small talk is avoided.
